All B&B owners make mistakes
One thing that I’m often told by students is that they realise how many mistakes they were previously making in their business prior to joining the B&B School.
Some of these accommodation providers can be quite demoralised by this realisation and really start beating themselves up over it.
Until I quickly stop them!
How do I stop them? By sharing a valuable piece of advice…
We ALL make mistakes.
And that includes me!
I seriously believe that accommodation providers who don’t make mistakes are unlikely to make anything.
All great entrepreneurs make mistakes – you only need to read the biographies of Richard Branson, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Alan Sugar and Michelle Mone to see that.
They all had two things in common – they possessed the same success characteristics but, more than that, they all understood that failures and false starts are a pre-condition of success.
Some people think that everything I do works out well but, as anyone who’s heard my story knows, that’s far from the truth.
Because of my background, when I became a B&B owner I thought I knew everything I needed to know to build a thriving business.
But I was so wrong.
In the early days I was constantly burnt out from constantly working and I wasn’t making ends meet.
I made critical mistakes, mistakes that cost me dearly, both financially and personally. But it didn’t stop me. I learnt from those mistakes, revised what I was doing and after time everything started to work.
I have a positive attitude to mistakes and it’s one of the reasons I’m where I am today – I have no doubt at all that my failures have been a major contribution to my success!
